Our Projects.
As a business we set incredibly high standards for ourselves. We’re immensely proud of the contribution we make to our community, and of the calibre of work we consistently deliver. That work is on display throughout our region, encompassing everything from large government infrastructure initiatives to residential developments and private projects.
Amberley Retirement Village, Civil Construction
Taggart was proud to deliver the latest stage of the Amberley Retirement Village, a growing development providing high-quality retirement living in North Canterbury. Building on the success of previous stages, our team managed a full scope of civil works including earthworks, drainage, water reticulation, roading, and utility coordination with MainPower, Chorus, and the Hurunui District Council.
A key focus was the construction of service trenches to support essential infrastructure such as power, water, and telecommunications. Working closely with HPA and their subcontractors, we delivered this phase ahead of schedule, helping bring new units to market faster and supporting strong demand for retirement housing in the region.

Hanmer Springs, Riverside Springs Residential Development Stage 1
We were engaged to deliver the first phase of the Riverside Springs development, a large-scale residential and commercial subdivision in Hanmer Springs. Set on the Christchurch side of the township, the project laid the foundations for more than 120 new sections, supporting long-term growth in this popular North Canterbury destination.
Our teams carried out extensive earthworks, drainage, siteworks, and roading across the site. In total, we moved over 102,000m³ of earth, laid 5,677 metres of sewer, stormwater, and water pipes, and formed more than 9,000m² of roads. This coordinated effort helped set the stage for a high-quality, well-connected neighbourhood to take shape.

Lancaster Park, Demolition
We are proud to have lead the transformation of Lancaster Park following damage sustained during the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. Our demolition crews began by soft stripping the Paul Kelly and Deans Stands, followed by the careful removal of the Tui Stand, concrete slabs, and foundations. Throughout the process, we worked closely with Christchurch City Council to ensure the site was safely and respectfully cleared for future use.
Sustainability was a key focus, with concrete rubble crushed for reuse and 30,000m³ of river run gravel from the Tui Stand repurposed at Ngā Puna Wai Sports Hub. Taggart then delivered the civil design and build phase, placing 55,000m³ of imported gravels to meet strict compaction and drainage specs, followed by 16,000m³ of topsoil graded to within +/- 5mm. The result is a new chapter for the site, now home to sports fields and community spaces that continue to bring people together.

KiwiRail HillsideWorkshop
Demolition Stages 1 & 2
Taggart was engaged to deliver the first and second stages of demolition at KiwiRail’s Hillside Workshops in Dunedin, preparing the site for a major redevelopment. Our work included the removal of buildings, foundation demolition, slab crushing, and excavation of contaminated soil. Throughout both phases, safety, environmental care, and efficiency remained a key focus for the team.
With the site now transformed into a large-scale mechanical workshop, supporting wagon assembly and new rail jobs for the region, we’re proud to have played a part in setting the groundwork for KiwiRail’s next chapter.
